Powerstories Theatre - Volunteer Opportunities

Powerstories Theatre is a 501c3 non-profit theatre. We thrive on the help of individuals and organizations in the community that volunteer their time to assist with our mission. The following are just some of the volunteer opportunities. All volunteers will be required to complete a volunteer application. Some will also be required to complete fingerprinting and background checks.

Women of Action committee – join a vibrant group of women in the Tampa Bay area that meet quarterly to learn about the Powerstories event and how to help the staff reach their goals. 

Play selection committee – this new committee will begin meeting in May 2009 to select four new shows for Powerstories Theatre to produce. All shows must meet the criteria of being a true story as this is our mission. They can be the “tried and true” plays like the Miracle Worker to new cutting edge shows. The first new show will be produced in October 2009 at the West Coast Players Theatre in Clearwater. We are looking for individuals with a keen sense of the theatre community locally and nationally. 

Building Committee – this new committee will begin meeting in May 2009. The goal of the committee will be to find a permanent home for Powerstories Theatre.

Special Events – help with box office, ushering, or lobby work during all upcoming shows. Help also needed with the successful implementation of a large July fundraising event featuring the girls.

Technical – help is needed for lighting, sound, stage design and stage management. Experience and a love of the theatre required.

Marketing – volunteers needed to assist with finding opportunities for the women’s show to perform on national stages. Marketing experience required.

Public Relations – volunteers needed to assist with gaining more exposure on local and national fronts.
